Two suns. One ship. How long can you survive?

Sunbattle is a retro arcade shoot ’em up for PlayPi and Super PlayPi on Raspberry Pi.

Fight waves of enemy ships, rescue survivors, and keep an eye on the two suns. Kamikaze attackers are heading straight for them — fail to stop them, and the suns will turn into black holes!

As the black holes draw together, they can merge into a devastating super black hole. Escape their gravitational pull and keep fighting to beat your high score.

Features

  • Arcade space combat: destroy enemy ships and survive wave after wave.
  • Rescue missions: pick up survivors in the middle of the action.
  • Protect the suns: intercept kamikaze ships before they reach their targets.
  • Black hole hazards: escape their pull and survive their merger.
  • High-score chasing: push your survival skills further with every run.
  • Offline play: no account or internet connection required to play.

Requirements

Sunbattle requires a Raspberry Pi running PlayPi or Super PlayPi.

Which file do I need?

sunbattle.plpiPlayPiPi Zero, 1, 2 and 3
sunbattle.splpiSuper PlayPiPi 4 and 5

A PlayPi game does not run on Super PlayPi, and vice versa.

How to install

  1. Install PlayPi on a microSD card: download the image for your Raspberry Pi from playpi.games/download and flash it with balenaEtcher.
  2. Boot the console once so it can prepare the card.
  3. Insert the microSD card into your computer, open the drive called data, and copy sunbattle.plpi or sunbattle.splpi into its games folder.
  4. Put the card back into the Raspberry Pi: Empilo appears in the menu.

Any USB or Bluetooth controller works. No controller? The free PlayPi Pad app turns an Android phone (Android 9+) into a Bluetooth controller: get it on playpi.games/download.
